Th Magic of Pulling Together

Greetings!

“Hmmm, wonder when that BEE is going to arrive?”
Fortunately, that is not a refrain heard around town in these all too busy days. Relax, I tell myself. It will come. Trust and keep working. Though this is probably not the best time to grab your attention, it is a natural time to reflect on the experiences that have colored 2000 with a green glow.

Once again, I am thankful to be part of a team that understands the power of pulling together. Seeing a picture of what the Demonstration Forest used to look like is a powerful reminder of what we can do when we pull together. It's almost magical and it feels good.

We've had a wonderfully productive year thanks to SMCF leaders Heidi Petersen, Karen Starke, Cheri Roe, George Sullivan, and Simone Smith and to many volunteers. David Arndt will be taking Heidi's place on the leadership team in January. Hopefully, the “magic of pulling together” will continue in 2001!

  Warmest regards,

Wednesday, October 25, was a very special day at the Demonstration Forest as we celebrated four years of community service and friendship with members & leaders of Girl Scout Jr. Troop #65. These girls were newly minted Brownies when they arrived at the DF in October 1997. With hoes, rakes, brooms and boundless energy, they took care of the young trees that were then just beginning to take root. The girls and their wonderful leaders have faithfully returned each October since then to do another round of DF duty. How lucky we (and the trees) are to have such friends! Special thanks to leaders Joyce Rabellino, Donna Keller, Karen Starke, Jessa Spomer, and to all of the girls!
