Welcome TREECHIE!

Our very own Treechie has arrived! Who is Treechie and why is he here? Treechie is a tree character (a varietal of Creata costumeas) who has come to help us educate children about trees. Treechie was originally designed by Cindy McCall of Santa Barbara County ReLeaf and created by Julie Diani of Nipomo. The first Treechie was such a hit that there are now four more Treechie varietals: Sonoma Co. ReLeaf, San Jose's Our City Forest, City of Los Alamitos AND Santa Margarita Community Forestry. Funding for our Treechie has been provided by a grant from the California ReLeaf 2000 Capacity-Building Grant Program and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
Are you AFRAID of your TREE?

Don't live in fear! Learn how to recognize and prevent tree hazards. A simple, practical workshop, designed especially for homeowners, will be held in Santa Margarita next fall. Stay tuned for details.
